Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that his side should be looking to beat teams likes Shrewsbury.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw at the Ricoh Arena which saw City drop to 18th in the table, Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “We should be looking to get three points at home to Shrewsbury and it is very frustrating. I’ve just watched the first-half chances and there are some really good ones not going in at the moment.
“They found themselves under pressure and not being able to cope but they dug in, changed their shape and matched us up in the second half, like Swindon did last week.
“I didn’t feel that they threatened our goal at all in the first half but a simple change of formation gave what is still a pretty young team a lot of problems.
“I’ve told them that I can’t question their commitment or effort – they really went after the game – but we have to find a Plan B for when teams try to stop us playing.
“I have to help them on the training ground to figure out how to overcome those problems when they match up against us and go man for man all over the pitch.
“It was a was a balancing act when we went down to ten men – stick or twist – and I’m not sure the officials helped in the second half.
Goodness me, it seems every time he blew his whistle he gave a free-kick against us but perhaps that’s the commitment the team are showing to try to win every ball.
“We’ll continue to strengthen the squad because we shouldn’t really be asking young Kyle Spence to go out and win us the game for us.
“He’s got attributes everybody can see – when he lands on the ball he can spin away from people and travel with it – but I’d rather have somebody with 200 League One or Championship appearances or the Adam Armstrong type player who is going to make a difference for us in these tight games.
“But overall I thought there were lots of positives today and the supporters could see a team that have been coached to attack, to play entertaining football.
"We’re disappointed we didn’t get three points but if we can get a result against Bury on Tuesday night we’ll perhaps take the four points from two games and keep pushing on.”
