Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is looking for a squad of at least twenty two players.
Mowbray, who has signed a mere three players during the close season, told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “It’s a bit of a grey area but I’m looking for a squad of 22, maybe 24 if you include the goalies.
“How many more do I need? I’m filling some key holes at the moment and not really looking at the numbers.
“I look at my board and I think I definitely need someone in that position, definitely need two in that position and another one there.
“I need those senior players, more what I call front line footballers who I expect to play a part in the team immediately, maybe five, six, seven, so we’re still building it.
“We lost a few in the summer because we want to improve and get better.
“Will we get better? That’s what we have to find out.
“It’s not always easy to nail down the ones you want but that’s the challenge. Let’s see how things pan out over the pre-season.
“Last year we went through the pre-season with virtually no strikers. We didn’t get Adam Armstrong until late, Jacob Murphy came after the first game. It will come.
“The potential loan players will be doing their pre-seasons. Some of those we identified might have new managers who want to have a look at them so we’ll have to wait for a week or two for them to make decisions on them.”
