Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is looking to extend the loans of Joe Cole from Aston Villa and Gael Bigirimana from Newcastle United.
The loans of both are due this month and Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “They are on-going discussions that are happening now.
“I’ve been talking to Mark Venus about it today and when we know we’ll let you know. In an ideal world we would try to get away from the five loans we have and try to firm two of them up if it’s financially right for our football club. That then gives us scope, potentially, moving forward if and when required to bring others in
“I think the players will help us but there’s a number discussions to be had, not just with our football club and the clubs concerned,” he said.
“It’s to do with the players, the players’ agents and their football clubs. They are under contract footballers who are owed a lot of money from their clubs, money that there’s no way we could pay similar sorts of salary levels so they’ll have discussions with their parent clubs and after that we need to have discussions with their advisors. So there’s lots of stuff to be talked about.”
