Mowbray: Our Better Players Need To Perform

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that his better players need to perform.

“I’m not sure why our confidence should be fragile – yes, we lost to Fleetwood at the weekend but the game before that we won 6-0," Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.

“I’m sure Barnsley were confident but I’m not bothered about them, I’m just concerned about us and the fact that we didn’t reach the standards we expect.

“I think that on our day there’s not a better football team in the league yet when we go to places like that we’ve got to be brave, play our passing football and give them problems.

“I didn’t see that and you can’t blame the wind and the rain because the game is played on the grass. I don’t think it was a very good match, to be honest, but some of our better players didn’t perform and they have to against Rochdale, Shrewsbury and the other teams we’ve still got to play.

“I’m not bothered about what the other results were or where we are in the league, the fact is that between now and the end of the season we’ve got to go out and win seven or eight football matches which will give us the number of points we need.”
