City boss Tony Mowbray, speaking at the weekly press conference ahead of their last game of the season at Oldham, has said he would like John Fleck to remain at the club.
Mowbray said of the Scot, “Of course, I have had those conversations with John. I won’t sit here and say we have no chance of re-signing John but he will have options and hopefully we will be in with a shout.
John Fleck won the Player of the Season award at the club's end of season dinner on Wednesday and Mowbray praised Fleck's season, saying, "I think John’s consistency level has been very high and his quality at this level and drive is very good. He allows us to play the way we want and he’s been an important cog, brings lots of qualities to the team and more than warrants that award.”
Mowbray was asked if Scotland manager, former city boss Gordon Strachan, if he thought Fleck should be picked for international duty.
Mowbray replied, “That’s a question for Gordon Strachan but I am sure he would fit in with the technical players Gordon has got in his side at the moment so I am sure he could fit into that.
