MP's Hoping For A Resolution To Safe Guard City

Last updated : 09 March 2017 By PM

The following is a letter to a Coventry City supporter from the office of MP Alberto Costa.

Thank you for your email to Alberto Costa MP.

As a football fan myself, I fully understand and appreciate the importance of this matter, and the ramifications it may have on your team.

As such, I have personally called and spoken to the offices of Damian Green MP, as well as Colleen Fletcher MP (the MP, in whose constituency the Ricoh Arena is based – Coventry North East).

...

Mr Green’s team are very alive to the issues you flag within your email which I reiterated in our discussion, and confirmed they are happy to help facilitate the necessary discussions to assist with progressing this. I believe they have made this known to relevant parties/stakeholders already, though discussions are ongoing in this respect.

They also helpfully informed me that the future of Coventry City Football Club was discussed in a Westminster Hall debate in October last year, led by Jim Cunningham MP (Coventry South).

I’ve also just called Mr Cunningham’s office, and confirm he mentioned this again the Chamber recently, on the 9th February.

Here, Mr Cunningham directly asks Mr Green if they will raise this at the Committee, which Mr Green seems to indicate is possible – confirming the discussion I had with his office on the phone.

I hope this update is useful, and I sincerely hope it proves possible to find a resolution here to help safeguard the future of Coventry City FC.
