Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he will play Joe Murphy this afternoon against Sheffield United so that the keeper can complete a full season.
Murphy is out of contract on June 30th and will find out if he is being given a new deal on Monday but has been told that he will be in goal for the final game of the season.
Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “There have been discussions on that but I think we have to respect Joe Murphy in the sense that he wants to play every single game.
“He wants to go through the whole season without missing a game. He’s played with injury at times when we never thought he would.
"He’s played with illness and he’s been a true character and leader within the squad this year and I am very grateful for the way he’s gone about things.
“So I think it’s only fair that we don’t deny him that opportunity.
“Lee’s a really good goalie who is progressing well and it would be a good opportunity, but I also have to respect what Joe’s given me and the team this year. And I don’t really want to deny him that opportunity to play in every game.”
