Coventry City keeper Joe Murphy is looking forward to facing his former club tonight at the Ricoh Arena (7.45pm kick off).

Murphy who was at Tranmere Rovers as a youngster told the Coventry Telegraph: "Your first club always has a special place in your heart and it’s great to see them doing so well.

"I went there as a 15-year-old lad and although they’re overshadowed by Liverpool and Everton they’re a big, big club.

"They were always pushing for promotion back then and used to get big crowds when they played on Friday nights. I think they’re a sleeping giant.

"Ronnie Moore has done great there – he’s got a small budget but he’s brought in some decent loan signings. It’s brilliant to see them up there although hopefully things won’t go so well for them when they play us.

"We need a big performance. They tend to play like us in away games – two banks of four, doing the basics very well and trying to catch people on the break.

"We’re playing the best side in the division at the moment and our home form hasn’t been great so we know that we have to do a lot better.

"They’ve had one or two little blips but they’ve always come back strongly from them and that’s what we need to do after losing our last two league games.

"The Carlisle game was particularly disappointing because we were very poor in the first ten-15 minutes – we weren’t at the races at all and we gave the ball away so often.

"For the last ten minutes of the first half and all of the second we looked the only team that wanted to win the game and we probably deserved a draw but it shows how important it is to get an early goal."
