Congratulations goes to Joe Murphy, the winner of the 2013-14 Coventry City London Supporters Club Player of the Season.
This is the 37th consecutive year that the presentation for the Coventry City London Supporters Club Player of the Season award has been made. It is, in my opinion, one of the most unique football supporter awards, as it captures votes from members from every match throughout the season that they attend. Each member votes for their top three players per game.
This year's winner joins the CCLSC Hall of Fame which has many of the Sky Blue greats who have won this prestigious award in the past, including goalkeepers Oggy, who won the award in 1995 and 1997, and Westwood in 2010. Joe certainly showed the value of goalkeepers by
- Receiving votes from CCLSC members in 74% of the games played this season.
- being voted in the top three on 20 occasions, and
- Achieving the highest number of votes awarded in any single match, when he received 93 votes at the Wimbledon FA Cup game.
The final top 6 for the Season are shown below. Callum Wilson, who was unfortunately out injured for several games and didn't pick up any points in January or February, pushed Joe all the way to the finishing line. His 9 Man of the Match perfromances was beaten only by Joe's 10.
We hope to present the award to Joe at one of the pre season's friendlies.
