Scunthorpe United boss Alan Knill believes that keeper Joe Murphy who is being tracked by Coventry City as a possible replacement for Keiren Westwood will end up at a Championship club.

Murphy and David Mirfin have both said that they will not be at the club relegated back to League One next season and Knill told This Is Scunthorpe: "They'd indicated to us before the end of the season they wanted to go elsewhere. While they worked with me, they were really good.

"But when we sat down at the end of the season they both said they couldn't really see themselves being here next year.

"With that in mind we thought we might as well not bother offering a contract, because the wages they will command we probably couldn't reach.

"They are Championship players and I expect them to be playing in the Championship. From what we've been hearing, that will probably be where they end up."
