City Chairman Mike McGinnity said:" I wish to make it clear that the Board have listened carefully to what the fans have said regarding the proposed change.
"At my request, the Board have have decided to retain the existing badge and not introduce the new crest."
City have also stated they did not wish to "alienate or antagonise" supporters.
