Newcastle United have signed Shefki Kuqi rather than Marlon King.
There were rumours aplenty at Leeds on Saturday amongst some of the Coventry City supporters and on some messageboard and social networking sites that Marlon King, who is attracting interest from other clubs, was heading for Newcastle as a stop gap replacement for Andy Carroll.
King could not have joined Newcastle or any other of the clubs interested in him, as he is in contract until the end of June at the Ricoh Arena and as the sale of Carroll to Liverpool went through so late on transfer deadline day, they were forced to look at out of contract players.
Newcastle plumped for Shefki Kuqi, who is free to sign for any club outside the transfer windows and the former Swansea forward has joined The Geordies until the end of the season.
