Peter Reid has returned to England due to his daughter's 21st birthday. However, after speaking to Australian Con Blatsis about a move to Highfield Road,he is expected to meet Dwight Yorke in the next few days. "I have been impressed with him in training so depending on how things go, I was very pleased so we need to sit down and have a chat. He looked a lot quicker than I thought he was, so that's another bonus. "We are not pursuing Phil Babb at this moment in time. The squad is looking pretty strong at the moment. I am pleased with the centre-halves and in an ideal world we could do with another forward. "I am pleased with the players I have got in but hopefully there will be a couple more additions to come in before we kick off against Sunderland. "I have got an idea what my starting line up will be but things change. It is a blank piece of paper at the moment and anyone who does well has got a chance of getting in." As for last night's defeat against a better class of opposition than City's first two games on tour, Reid was not too downbeat, saying: "Obviously it is always disappointing when you get a defeat but I was pleased with the way the players went about it. "It was a difficult game and I thought Saarbrucken played well. They looked a bit fitter than us, I have got to say that, but it is another pre-season game under their belts and a good fitness game. "I thought the better team won but I also thought we passed it well and worked hard, but we were unfortunately second best on the evening, which happens, and as long as we are all right for the first game of the season it doesn't concern me. "All in all I was pleased because a lot of players got a game under their belts in a difficult game against a good side." A number of players are nursing minor knocks and injuries including Eric Deloumeaux and Dele Adebola who are both feeling their hamstrings, while loan striker Eddie Johnson hobbled away from the ground in a hard plastic ankle support. However, blisters appear to be the biggest problem and several players queued up for treatment after the match. "We have got a few blisters and bumps," said the manager, who is leaving his assistant Adrian Heath in charge of team affairs for tomorrow's mini-tournament at Perl on the French border. "Eric is feeling his hamstring a little bit but apart from that everyone is in good spirits. They are a wee bit tired and they have got every right to be. "Sunday's tournament is a fitness one. We will be changing the team around and the lads will be having a blast, and like I have said before, the main thing is to be ready for the start of the season. "Adrian will be in charge because I have got family commitments and a little bit of work as well." | ||
