According to a report in the York Free Press, new York City manager Nigel Worthington chose the Minstermen ahead of Coventry City.
The paper claims that Worthington, who has managed at the likes of Leicester City and Norwich City, is believed to have been approached for the City manager's job but rejected the Sky Blues in favour of York who do not have the financial problems that the Sky Blues do.
