Speaking to Sky Sports News, Boothroyd said: "I thought I could get to know the players and bring them in but I have tried already and there are a phones being switched surprise surprise so I'll see them on July 1st if not before.
"We definitely need to build on last year. The players performance obviously wasn't what was expected and certainly not what I expect. We have to be doing a lot better than that so we are looking to improve.
On July 1st, there will be new players arriving but at the same, you don't throw the baby out with the bath water, there is some talent here which obviously needs stretching and I'll see if I can do that."
