No Mediocrecy - Coleman

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has said that just staying up next season is not an option.

After finishing in 21st place in the season just gone, Coleman knows that the Chairman,Board and supporters will not settle for that again when the new season starts on August 9th.

"We don't want to settle for mediocre," said Coleman to the club. "I don't want to settle for finishing where we did last season, especially in the way we did it - the last game was particularly disappointing.

"I thank the players for the effort they've given me since I've been in charge and they have given me everything they have got. "But the league table doesn't lie over 46 games - we finished fourth from bottom because we didn't deserve to finish anywhere else.

"We're not talking about signing one or two new players, we'll be signing more but that doesn't mean that we have to splash out millions of pounds.

"The Club has done that in the past and all it did was get them into £60 million worth of debt at one point and no nearer the Premier League. That's unacceptable so we're not talking about splashing millions and millions.

"The Chairman knows what we need to do. He's a football person and I'm lucky to have a Chairman like that. "We all know that we need to invest but at the right amount of money at the right time."
