Aidy Boothroyd has revealed that the club has not received any offers for Keiren Westwood.
Boothroyd said, “I met Keiren this week. I bumped into him and I expect him to sign. I want to keep him because he’s a good goalkeeper."
“We have not had one offer for him, not one, and the best place for Keiren is here at Coventry because it is all very well being a good player in a team that finishes mid table, but to be a good player and international that contributes to a team that goes on to be a winning team is completely different."
“There is a time and a place for players to move and I think the game is full of players that move too early, but Keiren’s time isn’t now. He needs to stay here. Nobody has made any offers, no-one has made any phone calls."
"It’s just a case of us having a very good keeper who needs to stay and develop his game.”
The 25 year old Westwood, who has consistently been linked with moves to one Premiership club or another, has a year left on his Coventry City contract and has been offered a very lucrative deal to prolong his stay at The Ricoh Arena. The negotiations are in the hands of club chairman Ray Ranson and Westwood's agents, but clearly Boothroyd expects that Westwood will be staying at Coventry for some time to come.
The squad, including Westwood are all due back at the Ryton training ground to undergo a series of fitness tests next Monday.
