Loanee Matt Pennington will miss Sunday's game for Coventry City at Crawley Town.
The loanee from Everton is out of the biggest match for the Sky Blues in years, with a serious ankle injury that has seen him return to The Toffees training ground for treatment.
City boss Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I have spoken to Matty, and Joe Royle at Everton, and he’s got quite bad ankle ligament damage.
“He had a scan at Everton on Monday which showed the damage and he’s stayed up there, although he’s going to try to come to the game on Sunday.
“It’s a blow for him and us. It would normally keep him out for several weeks but he’s fortunate that the summer is here for him and hopefully he’ll be ready for pre-season.”
