Coventry City take on Nuneaton Town in a pre season friendly tonight at the Triton Showers Community Arena tonight, kick-off 7.30pm. Coventry City's visit is the first time a game has been played at the renamed venue.
Nuneaton manager Kevin Wilkin has said he expect the Sky Blues to give his team a stern test, but says his team will be out to impress.
He said to the CT: "I'm sure they will be out to impress their new manager, but our players will be out to stake a claim as well. This will be the first chance Aidy Boothroyd has had a chance to look at his players in a game situation in England so they will be up for it, particularly those who were on the periphery of things last season."
"No matter who the manager is, Coventry will be a strong side as they play in the second tier of English football. We may not see much of the ball but when we have it we will have to use it."
" I expect us to be fit and organised. I've no doubt about our fitness, the players have looked strong and sharp. We've had seven good sessions and now we are really looking forward to getting a game."
Nuneaton will field up to five trialists in their side tonight, but will be without their skipper Mark Noon who will be miss as he is on a coaching course and left back Ed Matthews who is on holiday.
Wilkin was coy about who he will start,or even play. Two of his new signings Tom Berwick and Aden Moore might play, but Wilkin offered no guarantees. He said
"They may be involved at some stage but we've got 20 plus players who will be looking to play. Some will get a chance and some may not. My job is making sure everyone gets a fair go through pre season."
