Jim O'Brien has said that he was not in the right place mentally which is why he had to get out of Coventry City and get on loan.
O'Brien, who is clearly loved and respected by large sections of the Coventry support, told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "There are a lot of factors in why I've come here – my head wasn't in the right place at Coventry. I live in Barnsley and when you're not in the team and sitting in a hotel for two days after training, you've not really got a life.
"That was a part of it as well. I was in a bad place mentally – though it's not the time to go into that. I loved my time at Coventry and if they do go up, I know I've certainly played my part."
Speaking about his move, O'Brien said: "It was a tough 24 hours — pretty tiring to be honest. "I'd spoken to Nick previously and he obviously told me about his intentions with regards to wanting to bring me in, so we said if it was right for everyone, we might look at something.
"I had something else maybe going through on Monday after I'd trained with Coventry. Then I got the phone call from Nick because he'd found out about that interest and he wanted to do the deal to bring me here to Scunthorpe.
"It was a case of meeting the lads at the hotel, but hopefully, knowing a few people it won't take too long to settle in."
