Coventry City striker Roy O'Donovan, who scored both of City's goals in the 2-2 draw at Nuneaton on Saturday, has told the club website that he intends to use the coning season to showcase his abilities.
The Coventry manager Andy Thorn said prior to the pre-season friendly at Liberty Way, Nuneaton, that he would field two different sides during the game and he did just that by making nine changes at half time including bringing on O'Donovan.
Coventry travel to Hinkley Town on Wednesday evening for their second pre-season game and O'Donovan is hoping to get another chance to score more goals.
O'Donovan joined Coventry from Sunderland last season, but was then virtually overlooked for the entire season and only made two substitute appearances in the league and one FA Cup start and one Carling Cup start.
O'Donovan, who was a trainee at Coventry early on in his career, admitted to the CT: "It was difficult for me last season and I don't want to do that again. I don't want to sit around, I want to play and if I can't do that then I may need to play elsewhere."
Despite his two goals, O'Donovan is not getting carried away and he said, "It was great to get on the score sheet, I felt sharp and I know it is only pre-season and I won't get carried away but it is a good way to start."
