Arena Coventry Limited's Chief Executive Daniel Gidney has hailed the football matches played in Coventry during the London 2012 Olympics as a success.
Speaking to the CT's Hayley Draper, Mr Gidney said; “The Olympic Games has been an outstanding success and it finished on a high with such a dramatic late winner for Canada.
“The operation has now begun to transform the City of Coventry Stadium back into the Ricoh Arena.
“It’s amazing to think we have just hosted one of the biggest events in the world and it’s now time to re-focus on the business in hand which is to continue to bring world-class events to the Ricoh Arena.
“We would also like to say a huge thankyou to all of our sponsors for their support during the Olympic period. The clean stadium was a critical factor and we can’t thank them enough.”
With over 200,000 visitors to the stadium, the only complaints were, it is understood, to do with the amount of poorly cooked or inedible items being sold in the catering outlets around the stadium.
