Played out of position by various managers, Ossie, twice was the Young Player Of The Year had a stormer against Bristol City in midfield on Saturday.
Osbourne, who has come through the Academy and reserves at City told the CT: "A lot of people doubt my ability. "Even I have doubted my own ability in the past but I am starting to believe in myself now and that's what I hope to continue to do.
"I feel I am getting my career back on track. I just need to make sure I am doing the right things.
"When the gaffer said I was playing I was buzzing. It gave me a real lift.
"There was a bit of pressure to do well because I knew that if I didn't put in a decent performance then it would be a long time before I got another chance in the middle and I wouldn't really be able to argue with the manager about it.
"If I don't do the job then I can't get on his back when he doesn't play me. But with Aron (Gunnarsson) and Sammy (Clingan) playing internationals last week it gave me my chance.
"Obviously I know that I am not first choice in the starting eleven and I have been playing at right-back and right midfield and I need to establish myself as a central midfielder.
"So I have got to do whatever it takes to do that. "It is a step in the right direction and I am happy that I have taken my chance.
"I am not going to say I played brilliantly on Saturday, but at least I put in a decent display and if I get the chance more often then obviously I am going to get back into the position more.
"The coaching staff said I did well, particularly in the first half and said that if I can do that in the second half as well then they will get a good performance out of me," he said.
"The gaffer wanted me to try to win a few more second-balls and make sure I came off the pitch knowing I had been in a game."
