The former Young Player Of The Year, who came through City's Academy, was used by Chris Coleman last season as a right back before he succumbed to a hernia problem which has kept him out of the season until this week.
Said Osbourne to the CT: "I played in the reserves this week and I hope to be fit for the next game against Preston. "I don't mind coming in as cover if that's what the manager wants me for but I still want to play in the centre of midfield.
"I spoke to him about it last year but we didn't have a right-back at the time and I was more than happy to do a job, but he told me he wants to get me back playing in mid-field.
"I have been injured so I can't say too much at the moment. Obviously if I had been fit in the pre-season and still not getting a game by now I could say I need to get some games, and maybe need to get out on loan.
"During that time we have seen Aron Gunnarsson and Guillaume Beuzelin come in and Michael Doyle is fit and making his come-back, so I haven't been knocking on the manager's door.
"But I feel very much part of the manager's plans and he told me that last year when he told everyone where they stood. "And if the manager tells you you are in his plans then you are in his plans.
"I played the most games I have ever played in a season last year but most of those were at right-back and maybe just two or three in midfield, so it will be nice to get a few training sessions at centre midfield and then a few games as well. I just have to wait for my chance.
"I have got experience in this league now and after playing so many games it makes you want to play more. "I am 22 now and need to be playing games and pushing on. "But if I don't get to play there I am not the sort of person to sulk.
"I just have to try to do my best. I am not up to match tempo yet but hopefully I can play well in training and reserve games and show the manager that I want to get a place in the team."
