Ken Dulieu feels that Coventry City should be building the Academy.
The self appointed Director of Operations on the football side of things, told the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter:
"You've got to have a strategy for football and I will continue to give the youngsters an opportunity in the first team.
"It's not my model, but the Barcelona model works pretty well and if that has been tried and tested for many years then it doesn't seem to be a bad model to follow.
"Our under 18's side are currently top of the league, we have some excellent coaches in place, a superb director in the academy with Gregor Rioch and it's much more integrated with the first team squad now.
"We've seen the benefit of that this year with five players breaking through into the squad which is unheard of in recent times in Coventry; in fact I'm not even sure if that has ever happened so that is one strong positive I would take out that we have actually created.
"The academy is the lifeblood of the club and a community, and our strategy should be to build that academy and make it as successful as we can at all levels."
