Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said the City support should be proud of the team for the way they go about things and the way they want to play.
“After the Colchester and Gillingham games I had to come out here and say that we had played well despite the results,” Pressley said to Alan Poole of the Coventry Telegraph. “I can understand that fans who weren’t at those matches might find that hard to believe so this was a big point for us and we can take a lot of confidence from it.
“I think our supporters should be really proud of this football team – the way they go about things, the way they want to play.
“I’ve watched other teams and I think they do compromise in terms of playing percentage football and cutting out the risks but I want to improve by playing football.
“That was my message at half-time because I thought we were playing with a bit of anxiety which is understandable when a young side is going through an indifferent period.
“The one thing I’ve said to them time and time again is that we will never compromise the philosophy at this club – we will continue to pass the ball, pressurise the game. I spoke about playing with calmness and self-belief and I thought we did that in the second half and as a result of that I think we ground them down.
“The one disappointment was that we didn’t score more goals because a point was the least our efforts merited – it would have been a travesty to go away with nothing.”
