Craig Pead is expected to join Notts County on loan later today. The midfielder has failed to break into the first team since winning the ACCSCAG Young Player Of The Year Award two seasons ago and is currently languishing in the reserves. If he signs he is expected to be included in County's squad who travel to Northampton on Saturday.

With the news that Malky MacKay will not be joining the Sky Blues, Peter Reid has been forced to bring ina contingency plan. The City boss said: "I have got plans and I am working on a couple of other things which I hope will come to fruition before the weekend. "All I will say is I have got plans because every time I say something another agent jumps in on the deal and mucks it up, so no one is getting anything out of me unless a deal is done." Reid has also been frustrated in his attempts to sign Stern John from Birmingham City. The Trindiad and Tobago international who scored in last night's 3-1 defeat by Mexico has proved elusive to get in contact with and City have virtually no chance of signing him to play against Leeds on Saturday.

Louis Carey has admitted that he would be happy to step in as a makeshift centre half. Speaking to the club website he said "I've played at centre-half before when I first broke into the Bristol City side ten years ago. I played right-back for a year then moved to there for two to three years so I can play it but I am enjoying it at right-back at the moment. "We'll be looking to go to Leeds and pick up three points to go into the next two home games, where we're expecting to pick up six points. "'I think nowadays a lot of clubs in this division have got big names but they're not quite the size they were three or four years ago. 'The performance against Forest was excellent. You could say that they were down to ten men for 45minutes but that can be harder at times. 'If you get a good result away from home, you don't want to ruin it by losing the next home game. So it was great to get another win against West Ham and I think overall, for the three points and the entertainment value the West Ham game was probably the best performance. 'It was vital for us so at the moment
