Hull City boss Nigel Pearson was left furious after watching his side succumb 4-0 to Burnley in midweek and has promised Tigers fans that he will find the answers needed to turns Hull City back into winers.

Coventry City are the next visitors to The KC stadium on Saturday and Pearson has targeted the Sky Blues as the side he wants his side to beat as they go into another international break.

Speaking to The Mail, Nigel Pearson said: "The start has been a mixed bag, there's no doubt about that. People will still have a few question marks over us but the only way we can change that is to win games and be more consistent."

"It's important that we put things right and finish before the international break on a winning note. It would be easier to reflect on the first 10 games with three more points. The aim has to be getting back to winning ways and putting ourselves in a healthier position."

Pearson gave his team a harsh lecture after losing 4-0 at Burnley and left them in little doubt that he expects far better from them this Saturday.

Pearson continued: "I know we are better than Tuesday night. I've said what I've needed to say on Tuesday night and then again on Wednesday morning but it's now about making sure we're ready for the game. You've got to put to bed the previous game and move on to the next one."

"Clearly, we've got to achieve a better level of consistency and rectify the mistakes by keeping it tight at the back and being more of a goal threat. I'm not one for dwelling on it. We've got to learn from our mistakes and make sure that we bounce back."

Although Hull are in a lowly 17th place in the Championship on 11 points from nine games, they are only three points behind Coventry City who are in ninth place and themselves only three points from a possible top three spot, so tight is the league at the moment.

Hull had to do some rebuilding after their relegation, but Pearson said, "I'm not looking for excuses. I'm a realist and I know where we're at and where we're still short. It's an ongoing process but I've not lost my optimism for what we can achieve this year."

"The division is very tight, right the way from the relegation places to the play-off places, and although there are a lot of frustrations about how we've done so far, there is still the encouragement that we can put it right."

Pearson is boosted by the return to training of Jimmy Bullard, Ian Ashbee, Richard Garcia and Nolberto Solano and could all be in with a chance of being picked for the home game with visitors Coventry City.
