Speaking at the striker whom he signed from Colchester, Boothroyd told the CT: : "Every team needs a focal point in attack and every squad needs a guy like Clive who is as honest as the day is long and works so hard for the team.
"He holds the ball up, makes everybody else better, brings them into play and gives you the option to be aggressive; he's our Peter Crouch if you like.
"He's a horrible person to play against, because he's 8ft and all arms and legs but what a touch - he's got a touch like a cushion.
"I'm pleased for him because he's 32 years old and in the twilight of his career but he's still a terrific player."
