Plenty Of Cup Shocks

With sections of the national media not getting the shock story they wanted when Coventry City knocked out Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup this afternoon, the scribes had plenty to whet theri whistle.

Premiership Stoke City were a big casualty beaten 2-0 at Hartlepool United. Michael Nelson and Dave Foley got the goals.

Championship Nottingham Forest won 3-0 at Manchester City whilst Conference side Torquay United beat Blackpool 1-0. In the only other shock, Chelsea were held 1-1 at home by Southend United with former Sky Blue Peter Clarke scoring for the Shrimpers and West Brom were held at home by Peterborough.

Julian Gray made his Fulham debut in a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday whilst Gary Borrowdale was again left out by QPR in a 0-0 draw with Burnley.

The draw for the Fourth Round can be seen on ITV1 around 3.25pm tomorrow afternoon. Coventry City are Ball 31.

Craig Reid hit a hat-trick for Newport County against Chelsmford City in a 3-1 win.

Locally, Rugby Town were beaten 3-2 at home by Farnborough with former Sky Blue youngster Liam Nicell on the scoresheet for Tony Dobson's side.

Atherstone, Bedworth, Leamington,Nuneaton and Racing Club Warwick's games were off. Stratford Town drew 3-3 at home to Friar Lane.

Nuneaton Griff lost 2-0 at Loughborough Uni but Southam drew 3-3 with Pershore Town.
