Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray admitted that his side were very poor during their 0-0 draw with Oxford United at Nuneaton Town this afternoon.
Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “We were poor – very poor!
“It was an eye-opener for us because it shows how far away we are. We’ve played well in some of our games and perhaps not scored the goals we warranted but today we got a bit of a lesson from Oxford.
“You give them some credit because they were very organised, very disciplined – they denied us space to pass and we didn’t really have a Plan B. It was very frustrating, very unlike the way we play, but it’s best to get these games at this stage of the season rather than next week.”
“When you’ve been in football a long time you know that sometimes you can have a poor pre-season and start well and sometimes you’re flying in pre-season and you lose the first three.
“We won’t put too much stock on today. We know we were poor, we know we didn’t get started but I’m sure it will be OK next week.”
