According to the Chamber Of Commerce's Director of China Trade Liasion, Coventry City could have links with Chinese club Shandong Luneng.
A number of delegates from Coventry including Lord Mayor Tim Sawdon are to visit Jinan in Eastern China in September.
Speaking to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter, Mark Eaton said: "Both clubs were open to an exchange programme but the economic situation got in the way.
"It's been bubbling away for the last four or five years. It's down to Coventry City, it would financially be a big opportunity. Returns would be massive for them.
"The comparison of the company which owns them would be E-on and the football team comparison would be Arsenal."
