According to the Football League, Football League clubs may be expected to play matches next season on a Thursday evening starting next season.
The matches are likely to be televised and may feature either Championship or League One matches.
Any club playing on a Thursday night can apply to have their scheduled Saturday game put back to a Sunday and many are expected to do this.
