Coventry City defender Richard Keogh has said that although pre-season is tough, it has been enjoyable.

Speaking about the training at the Vale de Lobe complex at the bottom of Chairman Ken Dullieu’s garden in the Algarve, Keogh told Sky Blue Player:  "It's good to be back and see all of the lads. We've picked up everything where we left it off last season, the manager has been great and the training's been great so we're all really enjoying it at the moment.

"It's been tough but enjoyable and all the stuff has been based around how we want to play this season.

"At the end of the day my first season with Coventry I could not have asked for much more but I need to keep that going. I need to keep my head down, keep working hard and hopefully impress the manager and hopefully have another good season.

"Pre-season is a very important time of the season if not the most important because it gives you a good base fitness to carry through the campaign.

"It's also a chance for us and the manager to work on things and everyone is looking forward to the challenge."
