Coventry City manager Steven Pressley said that a fundamental mistake saw the Sky Blues go down to a 1-0 defeat against Notts County.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Pressley said: “I’m disappointed, of course. It was a fiercely-contested League One game but I thought my players’ work ethic was terrific. They had a real will to win but one fundamental mistake, one piece of naive defending, cost us dearly at a time when we were building some momentum.
“I stood here last week and I was extremely disappointed with the attitude of my players. Their reaction on Wednesday was terrific and it was today as well, but these are matches we have to win.
“I thought we were the dominant team in the second half, playing with great desire so it’s another lesson to us.
“It was a scrappy game, but Notts County are a team that put you under a lot of pressure. They like to get the ball forward very quickly and create second balls.
“They played a system they haven’t used before with three at the back and one sitting in front, four across the midfield and two up, which denied us balls into the strikers.
“But in the second half I thought we utilised the width much better, used Jim O’Brien and Ryan Haynes better; we switched the play far better and they couldn’t get out.
“We can create more opportunities but it’s our final pass, our final moment that we have to work hard on this week.
“When you’re on top your concentration is vitally important; the one thing our back four must do is stray together and drop. One of our players made the wrong choice which cost us dearly and lose a game where the least we should be doing is drawing and, in my opinion winning.
“County defend well and they’ve got a really good mentality – that’s why they’re in the position they are.”
