Pressley Concerned For Ricoh Arena Pitch

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has again expressed his concern about the pitch at the Ricoh Arena and how it will perform in the winter months.

With Groundsman John Ledwidge having long left for Leicester City, it is understood that contractors have maintained the pitch, which clearly looked to have been affected by recents events held on it, last week.

Pressley told Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph: “I hope it’s picking up.

“Football always amazes you and in that opening half an hour against Gillingham we saw some of the best football we’ve played this season, so when you take into consideration the pitch isn’t at its best then the players handled it really well.

“It was OK but the big concern is when we get to the winter months. There’s still growth in the pitch just now, especially with the weather we’re getting, so there is some recovery.

“But I thought the players adapted well to it and at no point looking to it as an excuse in any shape or form.”
