Pressley Denies Smith Bid

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has denied a bid for Swindon Town striker Michael Smith.

The People newpaper were running a story yesterday that City had made a bid for the 6ft 4inch frontman and that Peterborough United and Crystal Palace were vying for his services.

However, Pressley has denied this and said at this morning's press conference: "He's a player I admire but his valuation is too high and that is a problem. Paying high transfer fees just now is difficult, although that is not to say we won't pay transfer fees.

"He's a good player but he's a Swindon player and we've done nothing to change that."
