Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he feels disappointed for Aaron Phillips who picked up a recurrance of a knee injury during the win at Walsall.
“I am desperately disappointed for Aaron,” said Pressley to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.
“I spoke to him in the week and told him how much we appreciated the sacrifice he made, and the truth is if he was put in the same situation again, knowing what could happen again, he’s the sort of player would make exactly the same decision.
“That’s the type of character he is even though he would know the outcome, and that’s something I love within the club – I really appreciate what the kid did.
“He’s had an MRI scan and been to see the specialist again and we have no doubts that he’ll not need an operation.
“We just pushed him back too quickly. It was always a risk but it was a risk the player was willing to take and we couldn’t have asked any more from him.
“I said to him, ‘trust me on this, this isn’t a situation where you will start making a different decision with experience. That is your character.’
“I told him that five years down the line even if he knows it’s happened before if he is put in the same situation he'll make the same call because that’s his character, and you need to fill your club with boys like that.”
