Coventry City manager Steven Pressley feels that Ryan Haynes will progress to playing a more forward role.
Speaking to Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph about the youngster, Pressley said: “I don’t want to lumber Ryan with any unfair comparisons but Gareth Bale played as a left-back and then moved forward because of his creativity and speed and I think Ryan, given time, can be a really effective wide player.
“I think he prefers playing forward because Ryan’s biggest strength is his attacking sense. It takes away the degree of pressure of defending and, with time, I think he could really grow into the wide position here.
“He can get goals and he’s really fit and quick which means he can eliminate players, and the wide men have to be able to do that.
“I thought he was excellent against Colchester. At the weekend against Walsall he wasn’t quite as influential and never really created opportunities offensively, but it’s early doors and I believe he can be a really effective player in that position because he’s got outstanding speed.
“He’s probably the quickest player at the club, has a terrific delivery and he’s great at one to ones.”
