Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that the recent bad run has taught him about the character of his players and himself.

The City boss was asked what he has learned from the recent run of defeats in a question raised by the Coventry Telegraph on behalf of a City supporter and he replied: "I learned a little bit about individuals’ characters and how they have dealt with setbacks.

"I’ve also learned that at various points of the season, maybe a different style of tactic needs to be adopted in terms of winning games because I believe when the pitches change as they have in the last four to six weeks it’s more difficult to play the free-flowing football that we adopted in the early part of the season.

“I’ve changed what I am asking of my full-backs in the last few weeks, so that’s been a real learning curve for me. So you find out about the character of your players in a difficult run and also about yourself. You are tested as a manager and I always analyse my own performance and see if I could have done things better and made maybe a different type of speech to the squad.

“But the main thing is the character of the players and that a possible change in tactical style of play may be required at this stage if we are to be more successful next year.”
