Coventry City Manager Steven Pressley have said that he does not want to repeat the mistakes of last season when it comes to bringing in players.
The City boss said to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole : “I was offered one player, a midfielder, who I think has got great potential. “A number of individuals have watched him and we’ve looked at video footage. "Everything I’ve seen and heard about him suggests he could be a perfect asset for this football club and his agents have been pushing hard for us to sign him. “A year ago I might well have done that but this time I declined and offered him the opportunity to come in on trial. "Whether he’ll take us up on that I don’t know so we might miss out, but at this stage I’d rather eliminate the risk. “I believe that certain aspects of the club improved last year but I’m very much aware that other things need to be addressed.
"And one of those is the recruitment of players because we got a number of things wrong last season and I’ll hold my hands up to that.
“When we signed Manset we thought he would be a good fit but ultimately you don’t see the full character of a player until you’ve seen how he reacts with your squad, how he performs in training.
“That was a lesson learned for me and I don’t want to go down that route again.”
