Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he was delighted with the self-policing amongst the players.
“To lose a second goal in the manner we did gave us a mountain to climb against a very good Bristol side. Forget the third goal – that was up to us going on all-out attack. That wasn’t a concern for me but the first two were," Pressley said to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole.
“What was encouraging for me after the game was that I’ve been here 20 months and I’ve been craving the time when there would be discussions between the players in the dressing room.
“That’s what I want – I want self-policing at this football club. I want people that are my disciples out there – if we’re losing games I want them pointing fingers at each other because they’re not happy with certain things. And we got that.
“It’s not about falling out it’s about being winners, and that’s what winners do, what they demand of each other. We must see more of that in the club.
“I let the players talk today because every week it comes from me – every Monday morning it comes from me, every Saturday it comes from me, and I want it from the players. A winning team is driven by the players, you have to be able to point fingers at each other, and demand things from each other and we saw that today after the game.
“As I say, it was the first time in 20 months and I’m delighted with that. And hopefully we will get a response. I want it before the game, at half-time, after the game.
“I’ve been lucky to be in dressing rooms with some really good characters and I know that’s what separates the top players from mediocre players. There’s players at the top level who haven’t got the ability of some of our players but they’ve got a greater mentality.
“We must never accept defeat. We need to show real resilience.”
