Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he is pleased with the crop of youngsters coming through.
Pressley has youngsters like Ryan Haynes, Jack Finch (pictured below) and Coventry born Ivor Lawton and the City boss along with Steve Waggott wants as many home grown players in the squad as possible.
“Coventry have a history of bringing through young players but probably not enough,” said Pressley to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole. “When I look at the squad for next year I think we will have 11 Academy players in the 22 and for me that’s a fantastic percentage, one that I’m very happy with and really proud of.
“We’ve obviously got a crop in the first team now and we have got some really good players coming through.
“There’s Ryan Haynes, who is waiting patiently in the wings just now, while Louis Garner has played very well as a striker rather than a wide player in the last couple of months.
“Below that we have the likes of Jack Finch (central midfielder who can play centre-back), Ivor Lawton (central midfield), James Maddison and George Thomas (strikers) who will all play a part in the pre-season and, hopefully, moving forward. And we’ve also got the current 16s who we took on last year – five players we’re really, really pleased with.”
