Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is sticking to his philosophy and style of football.
The City boss was heavily criticised by some of the support during the 2-0 defeat at Crawley for being unable to lift his players against a team whose players were more fired up, failing to raise his players to play on difficult pitches and for his application of tactics and his substitutions.
However, Pressley is sticking to his guns and told the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: If you look at recent history, many of the teams that have progressed through the leagues have established an identity and adopted a certain style of football.
“I have my philosophy, my thoughts on how the game will be played, and I’ll continue to do that. When I came in here six weeks ago I spoke about that fact that it’s not going to change overnight, far from it. It’s going to take time to bed in our philosophy and style of football, make the improvements I want.
“You can always go back to percentage football and some clubs do that which is why the game is why it is and why certain clubs don’t progress as they should. At the merest sign of disappointment they revert to what’s easy, they don’t try to maintain their strengths and their beliefs
“If you do that, some days you’ll win and some times you won’t, but that will not happen here.
“For instance we practised all week to expose Crawley in certain situations and we continued to play that way even though the pitch was dreadful.
“It half worked, because we actually created more scoring opportunities than them, but with our style of football we’ll know why we won and we’ll know why we lost.
“I’ve got a huge belief in our methods, the way we want to play, and in time I’m very confident we will bring a winning formula to this football club.”
