Coventry City Manager Steven Pressley has told Sky Sports News that he understands why the pitch invasion happened and tempers of the City supporters flared during the 3-2 defeat at Crawley Town.
The decision to award a corner, following a string of highly disputable decisions by referee Lee Collins, led to a second goal fro Crawley and sparked fury amongst City players and then amongst the one thousand strong support with around fifteen taking to the field of play.
This led to four arrests and other City supporters either inviting the referee to come over and discuss the matter or verbally abusing the Surrey based official who is well known to City supporters from his previous two games.
Speaking about the incident to Sky Sports News, Steven Pressley said: "Listen, no-one condones that type of behaviour, but you have to be understanding of the frustrations of our supporters over the period and as I have said they have had to endure a great deal over that period and I think that just spilled on in to today's performance and we understand that.
"As I have said, together and only together, will we get through this."
