With the centre half, not part of Chris Coleman's plans, Ward is on loan at Deepdale until May 3rd.
Speaking to the Press Association, Preston boss Darren Ferguson said: : "I've liked Elliott for a while, he played well for Doncaster against us a couple of weeks ago when he was on loan there. He fits the criteria of what I want, he's really competitive, a good size, comfortable on the ball and good in the air. It's a position we need to fill for next season."
