Former Coventry City striker Terry Gibson has said that having a quintuple heart bypass saved his life.
Gibson, who scored 43 goals for the Sky Blues during his time at Highfield Road, is thankful for the rehabilitation he had at Whipps Cross Hospital in London where he now coaches patients who play five a side football.
According to an article in today's CT, Gibson, who also works for Sky Sports, is quoted as saying: "Without the operation I may not have survived. "It makes you wonder how long you have got left when something like this happens.
"Walking again after two days in intensive care, I had a panic attack. "You have all this pain from the trauma of the op but the rehab was invaluable and has allowed me to live the full life I used to have."
