Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray feels that the strength of Peter Ramage whom the Sky Blues are looking to sign over the next few days is his voice.
Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “He’s not 6ft 4 or massively dominant but he’s an experienced lad whose main asset is his voice.
“My main asset at the age of 34, 35, 36 was my voice, not the fact that I was 6ft 2 and could head it. It was the information I was giving to everyone else which meant no-one could ever get to me because I was never exposed.
“I had my midfield screening in front and doing their job, I had my full-back looking after the ball and making sure I never had to run to the corner flag if people put it down the channels. I wasn’t running into the channel; that was his job, so your voice put people in position.
“The biggest attribute you can have at a certain age is your voice because you know the game, you understand the job and make your own job really easy. And the fact that your team doesn’t concede goals because you are doing everything to protect yourself means the manager is really happy.
“So someone with a big voice is important for us. That person might not be very fast, might not be good in the air or a good passer. It doesn’t matter.”
