Coventry City's Sky Blues In The Community boss David Busst has backed Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to make a full recovery from a double compound fracture of the right leg in a tackle by Stoke's Ryan Shawcross last Saturday.
Busst, whose career was ended in a Sky Blues game at Manchester United in 1996, was forced to retitre after 26 operations.
However, he feels that the injury to Ramsey will not end the career of the Welsh international and told the Coventry Observer: "When Eduardo broke his leg, all the papers were putting up pictures of the injury besides mine so I sent a fax to him and Arsene Wenger.
"It was really just to reassure Eduardo and tell him that he would not have the infections I had. This time I have not been mentioned so I haven't spoken to Arsenal or Aaron.
"Aaron's injury is bad but his leg was protected from the foreign bodies which stopped me from playing. And I'm sure the Arsenal guys will have learned from what happened to Eduardo and will know what to do.
"Any injury like this always brings back memories but this is a contact sport and it will happen. When I saw it, I personally thought the way Ryan swiped at the ball was reckless, knowing that he couldn't get the ball.
"If he had touched the ball first, he was still going to carry forward and hurt Aaron Ramsey. It was more reckless than anything."
