Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has been talking about the visit of Birmingham City to the Ricoh Arena tomorrow and the game he played for Birmingham against City.

Speaking to the club's e-zine, Mr Ranson said: "It's been another extremely busy week at Coventry City and what has been an exciting few days for everyone will continue with Saturday's West Midlands derby with Birmingham City.

A few people have reminded me this week of a certain match at Highfield Road that ended 4-4 when I was playing for Birmingham City.

I was interviewed for Saturday's matchday programme about my time with Blues and I had to admit that I had a recollection of that game - even if not very fond as I had a dodgy late penalty given against me!

I have some very good memories of playing for Birmingham City and my time living here in the West Midlands in the 1980s.

But I am sure you know me too well to question whether there is any divided loyalties going into this massive game for both clubs.

Of course, you look back on your old clubs with affection but as chairman of Coventry City I want to see nothing but a home win at the weekend.

We are under no illusions about how tough a game it is going to be but we have been to St Andrew's and won this season, which nobody would have predicted.

And, we come into the game on the back of our outstanding performance at Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round last weekend.

I know we came within a whisker of winning it on the day but we are all very much looking forward to the replay and the possibility of facing Chelsea here at the Ricoh in the quarter-final.

But I know that Chris and his team are not getting ahead of themselves and the first priority is Birmingham on Saturday, followed by the cup tie on Tuesday.

The support recently has been magnificent and it would be great to recreate that atmosphere again on Saturday in the derby match."
